Underdog enters invite-only beta with fully local personal AI and the Husky inference engine for Mac and Windows

What changed
Conway Research founder Sigil Wen's personal-AI product Underdog entered invite-only beta on October 5 and was reported by TechCrunch on October 6. The current Mac and Windows versions keep the model, memory and primary inference on-device, with Linux, iPhone and Android versions planned later. Its Husky inference engine is designed to reduce data movement between the CPU and GPU, and TechCrunch says keys for authorized accounts such as email are encrypted. The product is currently free and ad-free while its long-term business model remains under development.
