Flagship Pioneering launches iris labs with a $20M commitment and iris chat as an iMessage/RCS AI thought partner

Flagship Pioneering launched iris labs on October 6 with an initial $20 million funding commitment. Its first product, iris chat, is positioned as a personal AI “thought partner” delivered through iMessage and RCS that learns a user's experiences, priorities and aspirations through ongoing conversation. Flagship says the system combines expert-informed guidance with AI judges and pairs each conversation with a parallel safety agent that evaluates interactions in real time. iris chat is framed around psychological fitness and personal wellbeing, not as medical, psychotherapy or clinical care.
