UAE's TII introduces Falcon-Emirati-7B, adapting Falcon-H1-Arabic for Emirati dialect, cultural context and conversational register

What changed
The UAE's Technology Innovation Institute introduced Falcon-Emirati-7B on October 6, a dialect-specialized adaptation of Falcon-H1-Arabic 7B. The team combines authentic Emirati web text, Modern Standard Arabic material about Emirati culture and identity, and synthetic dialect data constrained by Emirati glossaries and style rules. Evaluation includes native-speaker review, the 1,173-sample Alyah benchmark and LLM-as-judge comparisons. TII reports stronger Emirati dialect fidelity and cultural understanding than the compared models in its own evaluations, but these are team-run benchmarks; the authors also warn that rare expressions, highly local references and sensitive uses still require case-specific evaluation.
