GitLab unveils its Governed Software Factory foundation with /goal automation, Dependency Firewall and Duo impact analytics

What changed

GitLab announced new Governed Software Factory capabilities on October 6 to connect agentic development, software supply chain controls, security and measurement in one governed workflow. /goal in the Duo Agent Platform and GitLab for Slack automates progression across handoffs; Artifact Central beta, Dependency Firewall early access, Secrets Manager GA, GitLab Security Standard and Duo Agent Platform Impact Analytics cover artifacts, malicious or non-compliant dependencies, secrets, security controls and AI cost/impact measurement. GitLab also says Claude Mythos 5 and 5.1 will power new security-remediation flows.
