Atlassian launches AMP so AI agents can join team workflows with identity, shared context and scoped authority

What changed
Atlassian announced the Agentic Multiplayer Protocol (AMP) on October 6 at Team ’26 Europe, positioning agents as visible participants in team workflows rather than isolated one-to-one assistants. AMP centers on in-flow collaboration, identity/shared presence, and context/governance: agents can be briefed in Jira, Confluence and Loom, receive explicit ownership and scoped authority, and connect local IDE or terminal sessions back to shared work. Atlassian says rollout has begun alongside broader MCP Server, Teamwork Graph and agent-identity updates.
