Anthropic moves new Pro and Max Cowork tasks to the cloud by default while preserving existing local tasks

What changed

Anthropic's help center confirms that beginning October 6, new Cowork tasks for Claude Pro and Max plans run in Anthropic's cloud and the “Only on your computer” option is removed. Tasks already started locally remain on the user's computer. Cloud Cowork can continue while a laptop is closed, lets scheduled tasks run without a device online, and supports continuity across desktop, web and mobile. This is an execution-location and task-continuity change rather than a new Claude foundation model.
