What changed
Microsoft opened preorders on October 7 for Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box. Both are built around NVIDIA's RTX Spark Superchip and offer up to 128GB of unified memory and roughly one petaflop of theoretical AI performance, with support for local models exceeding 120B parameters. Surface Laptop Ultra combines up to a 6,144-core Blackwell RTX GPU with a 20-core Grace CPU, starts at $2,599 and becomes available October 16. The $5,999 Dev Box begins US shipments in November. Microsoft positions both systems for local agents, model evaluation and AI development alongside MXC and its broader Windows hybrid-intelligence stack.
