Personal AI agents hit website bot defenses as Amazon blocks Muse and Meta joins Walmart, Stripe and others on an open commerce standard

What changed
TechCrunch reported on October 6 that personal agents such as Muse, Instinct and Dots are increasingly colliding with traditional anti-bot and human-verification systems as they try to shop or book services for users. Amazon has blocked Meta's Muse from its retail site, while Walmart says failures involving Muse are not intentional and can result from human-verification flows. The report also says Meta, Walmart, Stripe, Sierra, Genesys, Rocket, NiCE and Decagon have begun working on an open standard for trusted agents to communicate with businesses in online-commerce scenarios and distinguish user-authorized agents from abusive automation. The standard is still under development rather than broadly deployed.
