Figma AI agent reaches GA with design-system guidelines, shared agent activity, skills, and external-tool and web search

What changed

Figma Japan confirmed on October 7 that the Figma AI agent became generally available in the US on October 6. The agent works directly on the Figma Design canvas and the GA release adds or expands team-oriented capabilities: Markdown guidelines in design-system libraries, search and insertion across Figma Design, FigJam and Slides, real-time visibility into teammates' agent activity, reusable and shareable skills, plus connections to GitHub, Notion, Slack and web search. Figma says the updated agent follows instructions more closely and handles longer tasks better, and agent usage began consuming AI credits on October 6. Figma also reports that professional designers preferred the new output in more than 60% of its comparison cases; that is a vendor-run evaluation rather than an independent benchmark.
