Cactus releases Whistle, a 16.9MB on-device speech recognizer for seven languages running locally on CPU

What changed
Cactus Compute released the open speech-recognition model Whistle on October 2. Its packaged runtime file is 16.9MB and runs locally on CPU through the same C++/WebAssembly engine used by Needle, without sending audio to the cloud. It supports English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Polish, and exposes word-level timestamps plus speech embeddings. The Hugging Face model card is licensed under Apache 2.0.
